Postal delivery consolidated

BRISTOL, Ind — The Bristol post office will no longer handle delivery as of Jan. 16.

On that date, those services will be consolidated into the Elkhart post office, following an announcement from United States Postal Service representatives in Indianapolis early in the week. The consolidation is expected to save approximately $1.5 million each year just in the 465 ZIP code area.

No jobs will be eliminated, the post office’s hours will not change, and all other services will still be available at the Bristol location.

A meeting has been scheduled by residents who oppose the consolidation, scheduled for 7 p.m. today at the Open Door Center in Bristol.
