SHIPSHEWANA —
More than two dozen businesses and associations sponsored ice sculptures positioned throughout Shipshewana during the annual Ice Festival Thursday and Friday. Today will be a chili cook-off in the Davis Mercantile parking lot.
Many discounts are available to those shoppers who invest $15 in a Ice Festival “pin” and wear it on their lapel during their shopping adventure this weekend. One special discount is a free JoJo pretzel throughout the month of January. For more details go to www.shipshewana.com.
Festival attendee Angela Miller of Columbia City said their hometown used to do an ice festival but they stopped it a few years ago. “We miss it,” Miller said. “We wanted the boys to enjoy the event like we used to when we were young so we drove up here to see this one. As you can see they are really enjoying it.”
The nativity was a favorite of theirs because they could “ride” the sheep and the camel.
