Tommy Danger Locklin, a Syracuse native, is closing in on 1,000 miles of running to raise awareness for cystic fibrosis.
Locklin, who operates the More Than Just Miles campaign, started his run in Seattle, Wash., Sept. 22, and will wrap it up in Daytona, Fla., in about April
As of Tuesday, he was just south of Springville, Utah.
Cystic fibrosis is a personal cause for Locklin. The son of close friends, who live in Syracuse, has cystic fibrosis.
Locklin finds sponsors along his trek — restaurants willing to provide food, hotels giving him a place to stay and occasionally a few new friends.

Day 56 “My Buddy Easton”

Today started off with a phone call in the morning from a lovely lady that had read the article in the Daily Herald and she asked if her and her grandson “Easton” could come out and meet us before we started running.
Easton is a beautiful little boy full of energy and he has Cystic Fibrosis.
So Sharon “Lovely lady/Grandma, her daughter Melissa “Easton’s Mom,” Easton’s Aunt Dani, and Easton’s Grandpa Joe all came out and surprised me with what I like to call a magical surprise.
Shoes, socks, running pants, running shirt, and a gift card to Subway....
I was speechless. I had to apologize to them for not knowing how to respond. I’m not good at receiving surprises and it definitely was a great one.
I also apologized for my creepy mustache......HAHAHA
When I met Easton he was shy at first but it only took him about three seconds to get over that.
His smile lit up my day and filled me full of energy and apparently speed.
After we chatted for a bit and I said thank you and we hugged and I was off and I wanted to run the first five miles just for Easton.
I ran those five in less than 40 mins at a 7:41 pace. Timothy responded with “you were flying” and I told him it was for Easton.
I finished 18 miles with a personal best 2:25:02 which was a 8:02 pace.
People ask me all the time why I put my body through hell for some charities I work with...
That’s easy....The energy and love I get back is 10 fold of anything I will ever face.
I’m healthy and was lucky to have amazing lungs and I will rock those lungs for those who can’t or who just struggle trying to do so.
I’m here for all of you....Everyday...
So Sharon, Joe, Easton, Melissa, and Dani. I love you all and thank you for giving me a moment in my life that I will never forget.
