Milford woman injured when her pickup collides with train

MILFORD —  A Milford woman was in critical condition Monday afternoon after her vehicle collided with a freight train.

According to the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department, Carolyn A. Handy, 77, was driving a Dodge truck eastbound on Emeline Street at 2:09 p.m. and she failed to stop at the stop sign and crossing and drove in front of a southbound Norfolk Southern train.

Police said Handy was taken to Parkview Regional Medical Center by Multi-Township ambulance personnel for treatment of head and internal injuries.

The crash is under investigation by the sheriff’s department.
