DUNLAP —
An Elkhart woman reportedly suffered an accidental gunshot wound to the leg while at her home Friday afternoon in Dunlap.
According to Cpl. Brandon Denesuk of the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department, Concord Township Fire Department medics responded to a report of a possible shooting at a home at 23316 Rebecca Drive, Elkhart, at approximately 1:40 p.m. Friday.
Upon arriving at the scene, Denesuk said responders located Tina Poe, 46, with an apparent gunshot wound to the left lower leg.
She was transported by Concord ambulance to Elkhart General Hospital for treatment of the wound.
Sheriff’s Capt. James Bradberry reorted the injury was not life-threatening.
Capt. Bradberry explained that Poe was attempting to unload a Ruger .22-caliber pistol when it discharged.
