MIDDLEBURY —
LoveWay Inc. Therapeutic Equestrian Services will host its Derby Day Auction Friday. The event is schedule to take place at the Crystal Ballroom in the new Lerner Theatre in downtown Elkhart. The event is being underwritten by Northern Box, Northwestern Mutual and Alpha Systems.
Derby Day will feature live and silent auctions with items including a trip to Disney, a necklace from Sorg Jewelers, and four unique rocking horses designed by local artists.
The fundraiser is themed around the Kentucky Derby and will give attendees the opportunity to use funny money to take part in mock horse races. A DJ will provide music for the evening. Attendees are invited to wear their best Derby inspired attire such as large, heavily decorated hats.
A prize will be awarded to the person with the best hat. Heavy hors d’oeuvres, cocktails, beer, and wine will be served during the evening. Valet parking will also be provided at no cost to the attendees.
Individual tickets can be purchased for $75 in advance or $100 at the door. Groups may reserve a table of eight for $750 by calling 574-825-5666 or emailing info@lovewayinc.org.

Planners like changes to CVS parking lot
Access to the CVS at 410 S. Main St. in Goshen could soon be easier for those with disabilities following a ruling by the Goshen Plan Commission Tuesday afternoon.
During their meeting Tuesday, Goshen Plan Commission members gave their blessing to a request by CVS Pharmacy and State Permits Inc. for a major change to the CVS Planned Unit Development that seeks to reconfigure the north portion of the parking lot to increase the overall Americans with Disabilities Act accessibility of the site. The final site plan for the PUD was also approved by the commission Tuesday, and the request will now be forwarded on to the Goshen City Council with a favorable recommendation. -
Council won’t fund school sidewalks
GOSHEN — Goshen City Council members voted along party lines Tuesday to defeat a proposal by Goshen Community Schools for a 50-50 cost split between the city and the school corporation to pay for a $125,000 sidewalk expansion project.
