The recreational vehicle industry had a good year in 2012.
According to the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association, shipments of all types of RVs were up 13.2 percent for the year when compared to 2011.
The RVIA said 285,749 RVs were shipped from manufacturers to retailers.
In December the shipments totaled 18,960 RVs, an 11.6 percent increase over December 2011. That was the highest amount for December since 2007, according to the RVIA.
The only category of RV that showed a slip in numbers from 2011 to 2012 were folding camping trailers. Shipments of those units for the year were down 4.8 percent to 11,265 units. But all other forms of RVs, travel trailers, fifth wheels, truck campers, Type A motorhomes, Type C motorhomes and van campers had double-digit increases.
Those increases were: Travel trailers, 15.4 percent; fifth wheels, 10.6 percent; truck campers, 21.3 percent; Type A motorhomes, 14.9 percent; van campers, 11.9 percent; and Type C motorhomes, 12.2 percent.
