MIDDLEBURY — On Monday evening, 120 students were honored at the annual V.I.P. Tea at Northridge Middle School.
Students and their parents attended the honor tea, where students were recognized for their citizenship skills. The students are selected by their grade level team and are voted for by the entire staff at Northridge.
The V.I.P. luncheons are provided quarterly by the Middlebury Dairy Queen, which has supported this program for 20 years. At these quarterly events, students receive a bumper sticker and a photo is taken to display in entrance showcases. These are provided by the American Legion Post 210, Middlebury, which has supported this program for 18 years.
Special guest speaker at the Monday tea was Chris Garner, Goshen.
The eighth grade Citizenship Award went to Kelly Miller. The Most Improved Award went to Corey Salmon.
The best all-around students who were honored are: sixth grade, Alexa Lambright and Andrew Ostrander; seventh grade, Anna Craig and Philliip Serikow; and eighth grade, Emily Barkow and Kurtis Hochstetler.

Planners like changes to CVS parking lot

During their meeting Tuesday, Goshen Plan Commission members gave their blessing to a request by CVS Pharmacy and State Permits Inc. for a major change to the CVS Planned Unit Development that seeks to reconfigure the north portion of the parking lot to increase the overall Americans with Disabilities Act accessibility of the site. The final site plan for the PUD was also approved by the commission Tuesday, and the request will now be forwarded on to the Goshen City Council with a favorable recommendation. -
Council won’t fund school sidewalks
GOSHEN — Goshen City Council members voted along party lines Tuesday to defeat a proposal by Goshen Community Schools for a 50-50 cost split between the city and the school corporation to pay for a $125,000 sidewalk expansion project.
