ELKHART —
Two events focusing on historic barns are planned at the Midwest Museum of American Art, 429 S. Main St., Elkhart:
• Gwen Gutwein, a painter from Allen County, will deliver a free public talk Thursday at noon about her project titled “Heritage Barns of Indiana: The First Fifty Paintings.” Gutwein travels the Hoosier state researching and painting portraits of historic barns.
Visitors must check in at the front desk and say they are attending the gallery talk for free admission. The talk will last about 40 minutes.
• On Sunday at 2 p.m., Goshen College Professor Emeritus Ervin Beck will discuss the “Historic Barns of Elkhart County.” Beck began researching this topic in 2001 as a result of the Elkhart County Historical Museum’s efforts to create a driving tour of the county’s barns. The event is free to the public. Admission to the museum is free every Sunday. The talk will last about 45 minutes.
