UPDATE: Stabbing suspect arrested

A man with ties to the Nappanee area has been arrested on a murder charge after a stabbing in Michigan.

Edward Hensley, 59, was arrested Friday by Elkhart city police. He was due to be extradited to Cass County, Mich.

Cass County Sheriff Joseph M. Underwood said officers were called to the 19000 block of U.S. 12 in Mason Township around 1:30 p.m. Friday. There, they found that Martha Sexton, 19643 U.S. 12, had been stabbed to death.

Underwood said the investigation yielded Hensley as a “person of interest.” Hensley, who had lived in the Nappanee area for a time, was located in Elkhart Friday and arrested.

Investigators say Sexton and Hensley were brother and sister. They had lived at the U.S. 12 address approximately 10 days.
