Reason 4 Hope opens Hope Cafe

LAGRANGE — Jamelle Godlewski and Holly Nater founded the local LaGrange charity, Reason 4 Hope.

The idea for a, donation or free, coffee shop was assisted by various community grants.

They will host Hope Café at the Christian Fellowship storefront on Detroit Street in LaGrange every Thursday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and on the first Friday of every month 6 to 10 p.m.

“The turnout on both nights was incredible,” said Godlewski. “We went though a lot of food. The highlight was when I saw a group of five sitting at a table together, all strangers. They enjoyed their lunch and got to know one another. It was wonderful.”

Ray Vaughn lives in an apartment upstairs and he enjoyed the new activity. “With the economy being down recently and the community struggling, this cafe will be really good for our community,” he said.

Tayler Troxell, a junior at Lakeland High School said, “I could see a lot of teens coming here to hang out, listen to music and just have each other for company. It is a relaxing vibe and nice to have a place to go after school for a few hours.”

Entertainment was provided by Karen Hoover of Goshen along with other volunteer musicians. To entertain, donate or volunteer, go to the group’s website, www.thereason4hope.com.
