Military officials are investigating the death of a local soldier.
Lt. Col. Gary Dangerfield, 1st Corps spokesman, said Army Pvt. Bryan Marchant, 38, died at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington, Monday morning.
Marchant’s death was non-combat related, Dangerfield said. The cause is under investigation.
Marchant is a 1992 graduate of Northridge High School in Middlebury.
He is the son of Roy and Jackie Cottingham, Elkhart.
Arrangements for a private family service are pending at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.
