Man shot in Meijer parking lot

GOSHEN, Ind — A man was shot in the parking lot of the Meijer department store, 4522 Elkhart Road, around 5:30 p.m. today.

The victim was shot in the upper torso near the neck at least once, emergency responders said at the scene. Because of the nature of his injury and his condition, paramedics asked for help from South Bend Memorial Hospital’s Med-Flight service. The victim was taken by helicopter from the Meijer parking lot for treatment at the South Bend trauma center.

As of Tuesday night, police had not located the shooter.

The victim told emergency workers he was shot during an argument with another person in a parking area west of the department store.

The victim’s name was not released Tuesday evening.
