The unemployment rate continues to fall in Elkhart County but is still the highest for any county in the state.
The Indiana Work Force Development agency Friday released the unemployment rate for Indiana counties. The Elkhart-Goshen metropolitan rate was 14.5 percent in November. That was down from 14.9 percent in October and up from 13 percent in November 2008.
Elkhart County’s labor force was 91,380 people in November and 13,246 people in that force were unemployed, according to IWFD.
Right behind Elkhart County were Noble County with a jobless rate of 14.3 and LaGrange County with a rate of 14 percent. The three counties have often had the highest unemployment rates in the state for the past year.
Kosciusko County’s November rate dropped to 10.8 percent from 10.9 percent in October.
The city of Elkhart continues to have the highest uneployment rate of any city in the state. The city’s November rate is 16.9 percent, down from 17.4 percent in October.
In Goshen the November rate was 13.5 percent, down from 14.4 percent in October.
