More than 260 motorcycles and 381 people attended a fundraiser, Scotty’s Ride, in memory of Scott Nielsen June 10 at American Legion Post 210 in Middlebury.
The ride raised approximately $20,000. There were two scholarship winners. And a 2012 Harley Davidson motorcycle was raffled off. The winner of the motorcycle was Doug DeMeyer of White Pigeon, Mich.
The annual event raises funds to provide scholarships for Northridge High School seniors, members of the local community and relatives of Legion Post 210 members to further their education.
The scholarship monies can be used for vocational, trade or technical education and /or training beyond high school and can go to any Northridge High School senior or member of the Post 210 American Legion, their children, stepchildren or grandchildren, who are pursuing a career in such industry, with focus on, but not limited to, students training for an automotive technician career. Scholarship funds may be disbursed at the discretion of the scholarship committee for tuition, tools, and/or training classes.
