Wintery mix headed for Goshen area

GOSHEN — The Goshen area is under a winter weather advisory for Tuesday.

According to the National Weather Service forecast, a massive storm that dumped up to 15 inches of snow in Oklahoma, will deposit some of its remaining moisture on Goshen Tuesday through Wednesday. How much of that moisture will fall as snow depends on the air temperature when the storm front reaches Goshen, according to the NWS. However, the NWS is forecasting one to two inches of snow will fall Tuesday afternoon and another inch or two is expected to fall Tuesday night. Snow showers will continue through Wednesday, according to the NWS forecasts.

The forecasts also predict ice may accumulate up to a 10th of an inch.

“It’s going to be pretty nasty out there too, because you are going to have winds out of the east up to 30 mph,” said Mark Steinwedel of the NWS office in North Webster.

Steinwedel said the updated forecast put out Monday afternoon predicts the storm will begin to drop moisture on the Goshen area between 10 and 11 a.m. The forecast states that there will be a mix of snow, sleet and rain.
