MedFlight called to crash at C.R.s 6 and 11

ELKHART — The driver and passenger of a pickup truck were injured when the truck collided with the rear end of a semi tractor trailer at approximately 2:10 p.m. Sunday in Elkhart.

According to Elkhart County police, the pickup was headed east on C.R. 6, just past the C.R. 11 intersection, when it hit a wet patch in the road and lost traction. The pickup then exited the roadway and collided with the rear of a semi tractor trailer parked on the side of the road.

The pickup suffered significant front-end damage and had to be towed from the scene. The tractor trailer sustained only minor damage.

Following the crash, the driver of the pickup truck was transported to Elkhart General Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The passenger in the vehicle reportedly suffered a broken leg and other unknown injuries and was transported via MedFlight to South Bend Memorial Hospital for treatment.
