Share the Fun: Seven clubs go head-to-head at Bethany for honors

GOSHEN — The Elkhart County 4-H Share the Fun Contest was held on April 13 at Bethany Christian School in Goshen. Twenty-seven 4-H members representing seven different 4-H clubs participated.

“Concerto Grosso,” a violin duet by Hannah and Rachel Miller of the Room 4-U 4-H Club, was the overall winning act. The girls were awarded the traveling trophy sponsored by Phillips and Sons Irrigation, Bristol.

Results of the contest are as follows:

In the Curtain Musical Clover Division, Michaela Powell from the Goshen-Go-Getters was named champion. Michaela performed a piano solo. The reserve champion was Brenna Janowski from Jamestown 4-H. Bethany Janowski, Jamestown 4-H, Elisa Espinosa, Panther Paw, and Eliana Spitler, Goshen-Go-Getters, all received honor ribbons.

Ainslee Zou from the Kind Clovers was named champion of the Curtain Musical Junior Division. Ainslee performed a piano solo.

Hannah and Rachel Miller were the champions of the Curtain Musical Senior Division. Reserve champion was Katherine Cooper of Room 4-U. Katherine sang her original composition “A Heart’s Cry” and accompanied herself on the piano. Lois Prough of the Kreative Kids 4-H club received an Honor ribbon.

In the Group Division, Cassidy Conrad, Samantha Florea, Marisa Longbrake, Dreagon Moss and Jared Schuetz of the Elkhart County 4-H Clown Club were named champions. They performed three short skits. Kreative Kids members Ashley Brewster, Anna Lucas, Lois Prough, Alison Robinson and Jennifer Robinson were the reserve champions with their “Where’s the Beef?” skit. Goshen-Go-Getters members Emma Bickel, Mikayla Colglazier, Katie Ditmars, Ainsley Friesen, Savannah Friesen, Hayden Pieri and Katie Schilchter performed “The Movie Mash-Up” and earned honors ribbons.

Hannah and Rachel Miller, Katherine Cooper and the Elkhart County 4-H Clown Club will go on to perform at the Area X Share the Fun contest in Starke County on May 4. 4-H members from Elkhart, Kosciusko, Lake, LaPorte, Marshall, Starke and St. Joseph counties will compete for a chance to perform at the 4-H Youth Round Up at Purdue University in June and at the Indiana State Fair in August.
