Elkhart County jobless rate drops to 10.3 percent

Elkhart County’s jobless rate dropped nearly a percentage point in February, according to statistics released Friday.

The county unemployment rate was 10.3 percent, the Indiana Department of Workforce Development reported, compared to the January estimate of 11.2 percent.

The labor force in Elkhart County numbered 92,934 in February, with 9,556 people out of work. In January, those respective numbers were 91,823 and 10,323.

The February 2011 jobless figure for Elkhart County was estimated at 11.9 percent, Workforce Development reported. The county labor force numbered 89,638 then, with 10,628 people jobless.
