“Up and down” sums up the latest recreation vehicle shipment report.
Total shipments were up 13 percent last month compared to September 2008 figures. However, shipments for the cumulative January-September period were off 42.7 percent.
September shipments totaled 17,400 up 2,000 from year-ago levels. Shipments totaled 121,400 for the year-to-date period, down from 211,900 from the same timeframe in 2008.
Towable RV shipments numbered 16,100 in September, a 17.5 percent gain from September of last year. For the January-September period, the 112,500 shipments were off by 39.7 percent from the year prior.
September motorhome shipments totaled 1,300, down 23.5 percent from 1,700 in September 2008. Year-to-date shipments totaled 8,900, off 64.8 percent from January-September 2008’s 25,300.
