THE GOSHEN NEWS
Elkhart-based Heartland Recreational Vehicles LLC has announced plans to hire 400 employees as part of an “aggressive hiring initiative” at its headquarters.
In its Tuesday announcement, the company pointed to a spike in unit sales producing a stronger backlog and expectations of a big year in 2010 as reasons for the effort, which has already begun. Approximately 200 production workers are being hired currently, with another 200 to be hired by March of next year.
After all positions have been filled, Heartland will employ 1,200. In October, 13 workers were hired to address an increase in volume for the company’s customer service, parts and warranty operations.
The announcement comes on the heels of a Monday notice that the company hired two regional sales managers — Daric Fail and Casey Torres — and a brand manager — Elkhart native Brian Linn.
According to a report from Statistical Surveys Inc., Heartland is ranked third among fifth-wheel builders in retail sales through August. The company also entered the high-volume travel trailer market in May of 2008.
