RV shipments begin seasonal decline

THE GOSHEN NEWS

— RESTON, Va. — Shipments of recreational vehicles began their seasonal decline in July, according to the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association.

Bill Baker, senior director of communications, said, “Manufacturers reported RV wholesale shipments at 19,800 units in July this year, off 26.9 percent from last month (June) but up 46.7 percent from this same month one year ago. It is typical of shipments to begin a slow decline from yearly peaks during late summer and early fall as model change-over affects dealer purchases.”

Most of the RVs being sent to dealers are towables. They account for 90 percent of all RVs shipped, according to Baker. Just 1,900 motorhomes were shipped in July.

Year-to-date, shipments are at 155,800 units, up 80.7 percent from July 2009.
