Police say Northridge student threatened teacher with knife

According to an Elkhart County police report, a 16-year-old student at Northridge High School made a threatening statement toward a teacher and displayed a small knife at 3:40 p.m. Tuesday. Police did not say in their report what became of the student.

Rape reported

According to a Goshen police report, officers received a report at 11 p.m. Wednesday that a 25-year-old woman was raped at her home in the 100 block of East Jefferson Street. The incident is under investigation.

Theft/burglary reports

• According to Goshen police, Tabitha Freshour, 565 Brookside Manor, reported her storage unit was broken into and a blue and black Mongoose BMX bike was stolen April 19.

• Goshen officers received a report from employees of Meijer, 4522 Elkhart Road, that a man walked out of the store with three bottles of alcohol without paying for it at 12:20 a.m. Tuesday. The incident is under investigation.

• Officials at Walmart, 2304 Lincolnway East, Goshen, reported that shoppers stole $610 worth of merchandise at 1:25 a.m. on April 8. Police made a report of the incident.

• Goshen police reported the arrest of Shon Stout, 20, 1606 Tippecanoe Drive, Goshen, at 3:54 p.m. Monday, on a charge of criminal conversion. He was released and will appear later in City Court.

• Goshen police received a report from Raymond Graber, 1607 S. 11th St., that someone entered his home and stole his wallet and bank cards and a video camera. He also reported that the thief used his bank cards to make purchases.

• According to a sheriff’s report, Timothy Scott, 59192 Lower Drive, Goshen, reported the theft of two checks, a GPS device and cell phone charger from his vehicle Wednesday.

• Sheriff’s officers received a burglary report from Bianca Bocanegra-Avendano, 30 Maple St., Bristol, at 4:13 p.m. Tuesday. The victim said someone broke into her home and stole several electronic items.

• According to Goshen police, Charles L. Hubbell, 26, 112 E. Lincoln Ave., reported on Wednesday that his mo-ped was stolen from a city parking lot sometime after April 10. Police recovered the mo-ped and returned it to the owner.

• Edward York, 61, Goshen, reported to city police Wednesday that a handicapped placard was stolen from his unlocked vehicle Tuesday while he shopped at Aldi’s or Walmart, 2304 Lincolnway East.

• Jami Hawkins, Goshen, reported to Goshen police that someone stole her bicycle at 3 p.m. Tuesday after she parked it behind the County Seat Cafe, 124 W. Jefferson St.

• Goshen police received a report from Amanda J. Bowens, 416 N. Eighth St., that someone stole her tan 1997 Pontiac Bonneyville Wednesday.

Traffic arrests

• Goshen police reported the arrest of Juan D. Moro, 35, 1030 Lucerne Drive, Goshen, after a traffic stop in the 900 block of South Main Street at 12:45 p.m. Monday. The driver was cited for driving while his license was suspended and was released.  

• Goshen police reported that during a traffic stop at Main and Johnston streets at 8:13 a.m. Monday, Crescencio Moreno, 26, 412 Johnston St., was cited on a charge of driving while never receiving a license. He was released.

• Goshen police reported that Ricardo Rodriguez, 21, 1321 S. Eighth St., was cited after a traffic stop at Monroe Street and Lincolnway East at 5 p.m. Wednesday. The driver was cited for driving while never receiving a license and was released.

Drug/alcohol arrests

• According to an Elkhart County sheriff’s report, a vehicle driven by Christopher Swartley, 25, was stopped for a traffic violation at C.R.s 17 and 32 at 8 p.m. Tuesday. The driver was cited for possession of marijuana and a passenger, Chelsea Hartwick, 22, was also cited with possession of the drug. Both were released.  

• According to a sheriff’s department report, Tim Fall, 20, was cited on a charge of illegal possession of an alcoholic beverage when officers were called to Forest River, 51773 C.R. 29, Middlebury, at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday.

• Sheriff’s officers reported the arrest of Kimberly Kern, 31, on a charge of possession of marijuana at Forest River, 51773 C.R. 39, Middlebury, at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday.

OWI arrests

• Goshen police said they arrested Michael A. Bledsoe, 50, 1214 Reynolds St., after a traffic stop in the 1200 block of East Reynolds Street at 7:17 p.m. Wednesday. Bledsoe reportedly refused to submit to a blood-alcohol test and was arrested on a charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated. He was booked at the county jail.
