Motorist hurt in collision
One driver was hurt in a two-car crash at Ind. 19 south of C.R. 42 at 8:32 a.m. Tuesday.
According to a report by the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department, Deangalo Gray, 21, Syracuse, was driving a 2009 Chevrolet Impala north on Ind. 19 when the car crossed the centerline and collided with a 2011 Honda Accord driven by Rachelle Shuff, 44, Elkhart.
Shuff had back pain and was taken to Elkhart General Hospital for treatment. Gray was not hurt, but he was cited for driving left of center.
Police link man to
several break-ins
Elkhart police reportedly arrested a man early Tuesday during an break-in a pizza business. Police later connected him to a total of four break-ins.
Police responded to a burglar alarm at Pizza hut, 1654 Cassopolis St., at 5:20 a.m. Tuesday. After a brief foot chase, police reported, officers apprehended and arrested Reuben Green, 22, Elkhart.
Police said that Green discharged a firearm while inside Pizza Hut. No one was injured, authorities reported.
Besides the break-in at the Pizza Hut, Green was accused of breaking into Long John Silvers, 1648 Cassopolis St., Marco’s Pizza, 1832 Cassopolis, and Lowell’s Barber Shop, 1725 Cassopolis. He was arrested on four counts of burglary while armed with a deadly weapon, a Class B felony, two counts of burglary as a Class C felony, criminal recklessness and resisting law enforcement. Green was also accused of the burglary of Carriage Cleaners on April 22 and Lowell’s Barber Shop on April 20.
Green was incarcerated in the Elkhart County jail.

Goshen police were called to a vacant residence in the 400 block of North Fifth Street, Goshen, at 8:07 p.m. Wednesday. Officers found a 4-year-old and 3-month-old alone inside the residence.
