LIGONIER —
A Ligonier man was listed as being in critical condition Sunday afternoon following a traffic accident that occurred in Noble County Saturday at 4 p.m.
The Noble County Sheriff’s Department reported Teddy B. Martin, 21, 207 W. Union St., was driving north on Ind. 9 and attempting to pass a string of vehicles when his Chevrolet Corvette collided with a Chevrolet pickup. Police said the pickup was driven by Quinn S. Groff, 10904 N. 1175 West, Ligonier. At the time of the collision the pickup was also traveling northbound on Ind. 9 and was making a left turn onto C.R. 850 North.
Police said the crash pushed both vehicles into a field and the pickup came to rest on top of the Corvette. A fire broke out and the drivers and two passengers in the pickup and one in the Corvette were removed from the vehicles before police arrived. The pickup passengers were Harley N. Beechy, 19, and Carter P. Schrock, 25, both of Millersburg. The Corvette passenger was Teddy T. Martin, 54, of 207 W. Union St., Ligonier.
Police said Beechy, Schrock and Groff were not injured. Teddy B. Martin suffered lacerations to his face, arms and hand. Teddy T. Martin was taken to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne and was listed as being in critical condition Sunday afternoon.
