Two dead, one injured in Noble County crash

WAWAKA — Two drivers were killed and a Ligonier woman injured in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 6 Sunday near Wawaka.

Dead are George Harmon, 65, Ligonier, and William A. Crandall, 44, Butler.

The collision occurred shortly before 8 p.m. Noble County police said Crandall was driving a 1997 Ford Contour east on U.S. 6, east of C.R. 300 West. The Contour went off the right side of the road, and police said Crandall over-corrected and lost control of the vehicle.

Crandall’s vehicle then went left of center and into the westbound lane, where it was struck by a 1997 Pontiac Grand Am driven by Harmon.

Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene, police said. A passenger in Harmon’s vehicle, Laura Harmon, 60, Ligonier, suffered leg injuries and was airlifted to Parkview Regional Hospital in Fort Wayne.
