Drivers injured

 in collision

A two vehicle collision west of Middlebury Friday evening left both drivers with injuries.

According to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department, a Dodge Ram pickup truck driven by Michael Glassburn, 26, Middlebury, was northbound on C.R. 31. As he was attempting to cross U.S. 20, he crossed into the path of a 2005 Chrysler Town and Country driven by April Bernth, 40, of Goshen, who was westbound. The impact of the crash forced Bernth’s vehicle to slide off the north side of the road and into several large field stones before coming to rest against a NIPSCO utility pole west of C.R. 31. Police said Glassburn’s vehicle also slid off the north side of U.S. 20.

Bernth sustained a possible broken leg and fracture to her right ankle. She was taken to IU Health Goshen Hospital for further evaluation. Glassburn sustained minor injuries to his hand and was released at the scene. A 3-year-old was in Bernth’s vehicle, but did not sustain any injuries.
