10-year-old receives bruises in Foraker crash

One person was hurt in a two-vehicle crash at 4:34 p.m. Monday at C.R.s 15 and 142 near Foraker.

According to a report by the Elhart County Sheriff’s Department, Sherri Kramp, 45, Goshen, was driving a 2004 Ford F-150 truck south on C.R. 15 and drove into the intersection where the truck collided with a westbound 2009 Toyota Highlander driven by Chanelle K. Blucker, 38, Nappanee.

Neither driver was hurt. A passenger in the truck, Bryce Kramp, 10, was taken to Goshen General Hospital by Jefferson Township ambulance for treatment of bruises to his head.

There was heavy damage to the vehicles.

Kramp was ticketed for disregarding a stop sign.

 

Rail cars damaged

Goshen police received a report from Kenny Neff, warehouse supervisor for Brunk Corp., 803 Logan St., that six rail cars were damaged near the business between Friday and Monday. No estimate of damage was included in the report.

Two arrested on theft charges

Goshen police reported the arrest at 11:14 a.m. Monday of Jeremy Wheeler, 34, 935 Prairie St., Elkhart, and Christopher Culbreath, 41, 2112 Aurora St., Elkhart, on charges of theft at Meijer, 4522 Elkhart Road. They were booked into the county jail on the felony charges.

Cash stolen

from register

Officials at Penguin Point, 601 E. Madison St., Goshen, reported to city police that someone took $183 from the cash register late Friday or early Saturday. The theft is under investigation.

Women arrested

on shoplifting charge

Goshen police reported the arrest of Britny Vance, 20, Goshen, and Krisin Treuchet, 19, Nappanee, at 5:45 p.m. Monday on charges of shoplifting at Meijer, 4522 Elkhart Road. They were cited and released.

Man arrested on battery charge

Goshen police arrested Romiro Rodriguez, 32, 315 Middlebury St., at 4:30 p.m. Monday on charges of domestic battery and strangulation. He was booked at the county jail.

Man arrested after traffic stop

According to a report by the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department, a vehicle was stopped at C.R. 9, near C.R. 6 for a muffler violation at 1 p.m. Sunday. The driver, William huffman, 50, 7603 N. Range Road, LaPorte, was cited for driving after his license was suspended for life, a Class C felony. He was booked at the county jail.

Gast station robbed

The sheriff’s department received a report of a robbery at 7-Eleven, 25960 C.R. 20, Elkhart, at 9:21 p.m. Monday. A suspect stole cigarettes and about $50 in cash before fleeing north from the convenience store. The robbery is under investigation.

Drowing was

possible suicide

Elkhart city police reported they responded at 9:55 a.m. Tuesday to McNaughton Park on a report of a possible drowning. When they arrived, they found David Witt, 58, Elkhart, who was deceased. Police said all indications are that the incident may be a suicide.

DWI arrest made

According to a sheriff’s department report, a vehicle driven by Benjamin Jack Born, 31, 214 E. Arbor St., Marcellus, Mich., was stopped at Ind. 19 and the State Line Road at 3:30 a.m. Tuesday. The driver was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated. He was booked at the county jail.
