Two arrested at Camelot Lake

Kosciusko County sheriff’s officers arrested two people Saturday after receiving a tip about possible drug activity near Camelot Lake.

Officers were called to the Camelot Apartments Saturday about 2 p.m. and reportedly found several people in or near two cars. Indiana State Police with a canine inspected the outside of the vehicles and a dog denoted a "hit" on one car.

Police said they found several items associated with drug usage and found methamphetamine. Kelly Kristine Yotter, 25, 6333 E. C.R. 700 South, Pierceton, was arrested on charges of possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. She was incarcerated in the county jail with bond set at $2,000.

Also arrested at the scene was Sean Michael Rhodes, 25, 402 W. Section St., Milford, on an outstanding warrant from a Whitley County court.

Robbery reported

Elkhart city police reported an armed robbery at the office of Center for Community Justice, 121 S. Third St., at 4:45 p.m. Friday.

The staff said an administrative assistant was robbed of $646.85 at gunpoint by two men at the close of business Friday. City police are investigating the incident.

The CCJ staff directs seven programs that work with crime victims and offenders to address harms that result from crimes. CCJ is a place where offenders may be accountable to the community, their victims and their families, according to Connie Caiceros, coordinator of the Victim-Offender Reconciliation Program.

"Everyone who works at CCJ cares deeply about our community," Caiceros stated in a press release. "The money taken was not money for CCJ; it was money for our community."

Driver injured

One driver was hurt in a two-car crash at Ind. 119 and C.R. 7 at 5:15 p.m. Monday.

According to Elkhart County police, Amy S. Hanning, 36, Nappanee, was driving a 2009 Hyundai Sonata south on C.R. 7 when the car collided with a 2000 Ford Mustang driven northeast on Ind. 119 by Rebecca A. Olsen, 26, Goshen.

Olsen was not hurt but Hanning was taken to Elkhart General Hospital for treatment of chest pain.

Student arrested

Goshen police reported that a Goshen Middle School student was arrested at the school on a theft charge Friday afternoon. The student was later released to parents.

Break-in reported

According to a Goshen police report, Carol Schaaf, 414 Queen St., reported someone broke into her home over the weekend and removed items. She reported the incident Sunday.

Five at party cited

According to a report by the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department, officers were called to a loud party in the 65000 block of Ind. 15 at 1 a.m. Sunday and cited one juvenile and four young adults into court on alcohol-related charges.

Those cited for illegal consumption of alcoholic beverages include Trey Grote, 20, Jordan Wenger, 20, Alexandra Yoder, 18, and Melody Goins, 19, all of Goshen. They were cited and released.

Vehicle strikes building

The staff at John Hall Hardware, 205 S. Main St., Goshen reported Saturday morning that a vehicle struck the building overnight Friday and the driver fled the scene. No estimate of damage was made.

OWI arrests

Goshen police said the following motorists were arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated recently:

• Jorge A. Ortiz-Torres, 28, 1323 S. Ninth St., in the 1100 block of College Avenue at 1 a.m. Friday.

• Robert L. Chupp, 28, 15533 C.R. 28, Goshen, at Lincolnway and Monroe Street at 2 a.m. Friday.

• Kara L. Rutledge, 27, 25638 Rainbow Drive, Sturgis, Mich., at Ind. 15 and C.R. 29 at 3:30 a.m. Saturday.

• Brittany Young, 22, Goshen, after a traffic stop at 2 a.m. Saturday at Plymouth and Indiana avenues.

• Eduardo Munos, 26, Goshen, at 3 a.m. Sunday at Indiana Avenue, north of Wilden Avenue. He was also arrested on a charge of driving while his license privileges were suspended.

• Howard D. Harkins Jr., 48, 33 Roxbury Park, at 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Lincoln Avenue and Sixth Street. He was also arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia.

• Haley C. Roscoe, 24, 51705 Downey St., Elkhart, after a traffic stop at West Wilden Avenue and Peddlers Village Road at 12:20 a.m. Sunday.

Elkhart County police reported the following arrest:

• Leonard I. Roberts, 45, Edwardsburg, Mich., was arrested after a traffic stop at 11:47 p.m. Saturday at C.R. 17, south of C.R. 6. He was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated and possession of marijuana.

Graffiti reported

Landlord Troy Hill reported to Goshen police that someone sprayed gang graffiti on a garage at 314 N. Second St. over the weekend. No estimate of damage was made.
