THE GOSHEN NEWS

Goshen police arrested registered sex offender Brian P. Johnson, 32, 1817 Tiffany Court, Goshen Thursday at 2:49 p.m. on a parole violation charge. Police allege Johnson attempted to solicit sex from a person on the Internet who he thought was a 14-year-old girl.

According to Goshen Assistant Chief Mike McCloughen Johnson was arrested on a warrant for violation of parole in the 1700 block of South Main Street. He was incarcerated in the Elkhart County Jail with no bond.

The case began when Elkhart police received a report of a man attempting to solicit sex from a person online who he thought was a 14 year old girl. The reportee contacted Elkhart police, who investigated and determined Johnson was the suspect. Goshen police were contacted and started an investigation into the case. Elkhart County Sheriff’s Detective Brian Holoman assisted Goshen police in obtaining information on Johnson and information from the Indiana Department of Corrections.

Goshen police said they then contacted Indiana Department of Corrections Parole Agent Charles Bowen at his South Bend office. Bowen advised that information provided violated Johnson’s parole and he obtained a state warrant.

Goshen police said they and Bowen arrested Johnson in Goshen while Johnson was online with whom he thought was a 14-year-old girl.

An investigation into Johnson and his Internet use is continuing.
