Handgun reported stolen

The theft of a handgun from a Goshen home was reported to city police Wednesday.

According to a Goshen police report, Thomas Conrad, 801 N. Michigan Ave., reported a gun was removed from his home sometime before May 15. The value of the loss was not listed.

The theft is under investigation.



Driver ticketed

A Ligonier driver was cited for driving without a valid license by Goshen police at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

According to a report by Goshen Ptl. Chris Waddell, he stopped a vehicle driven by Jacob Schmidt, 35, 12058 C.R. 148, Ligonier, at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 2300 block of Lincolnway East. Schmidt was ticketed for the offense and will appear in court later.



Boy faces theft charge

Goshen police reported they arrested a 16-year-old Syracuse boy and charged him with theft at Walmart, 2304 Lincolnway East, at 5:10 p.m. Wednesday. The teen-ager was released to his parents and will appear later in juvenile court.



Woman arrested

on theft charge

An Elkhart woman was arrested on a charge of theft at 7 p.m. Wednesday at a Goshen Walmart.

According to a Goshen police report, Pamela Maarquez, 19, 1226 W. Hubbard Ave., Elkhart, was charged with theft at Walmart, 2304 Lincolnway East, at 7 p.m. Wednesday. She was cited and released, to appear later in city court.



Student allegedly

has pot at Concord school

A Concord Junior High School student was accused of possession of marijuana by a school administrator Tuesday morning.

According to a report by the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department, a 14-year-old student at the junior high was accused of possession of marijuana by a school administrator. The students was cited and released to parents.



Driver arrested

A Goshen driver was jailed after a traffic stop at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday on a charge of driving after his license was suspended.

According to a report by the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department, a vehicle driven by Raul Arroyo, 44, 16216 Tropicana Ave., Goshen, was stopped at Eighth and Madison streets at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday on a seat belt violation.

The driver was charged with driving after being judged a habitual traffic violator and never receiving a license. He was also ticketed for driving without insurance and not wearing a seat belt. He was booked at the county jail.



Alcohol arrests

Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department officers stopped Bradly S. Hoyer, 32, 58713 Scarborough Lane, Goshen, at 2:30 a.m. Thursday at C.R. 45, west of C.R. 15 for reportedly driving left of center. He was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated as a Class A misdemeanor. He was booked at the county jail.

At 1 a.m. Thursday, a vehicle driven by Shannon M. Manley, 29 26229 Leland Road, Elkhart, was stopped at Ind. 19, south of North Shore Drive, for not having headlights in operation. According to a report by the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department, the driver failed sobriety tests and a blood-alcohol test before he was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated. He was booked at the county jail.
