Counterfeit found
Goshen police received a report of a counterfeit $20 bill being used at a retail business in the city this week.
Officials at the CVS Pharmacy, 410 S. Main St., said between 8 a.m. Tuesday and 6 a.m. Wednesday a customer made a purchase and used a counterfeit $20 bill in the pharmacy. The incident is under investigation.
Juveniles arrested
Goshen police reported arresting two juveniles for the break-in at a school early Wednesday.
Police said they arrested two juveniles and accused them of a break-in at Merit Learning Center, 801 W. Wilkinson St., at 1 a.m. Wednesday. They were held at the Elkhart County juvenile detention center.
Elkhart man arrested
on theft charge
Goshen police arrested Antonio Canoles, 53, 2224 Decamp Blvd., Elkhart, on a charge of theft at Meijer, 4522 Elkhart Road, at 4 p.m. Wednesday. Police learned he also had a warrant for his arrest on a previous charge. He was booked at the Elkhart County jail and held without bond.
DWI arrests
Goshen police reported the arrest of Gerardo Negrete Lopez, 42, 2101 S. Main St., at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at a traffic stop in the city. Lopez was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated, false informing and possession of fake identification. He was booked at the Elkhart County jail.
The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department arrested Markus Cisneros, 36, 1901 Osolo Road, Elkhart, on Medford Street, west of C.R. 11, at 11:11 p.m. Wednesday after he was stopped for reportedly driving on the wrong side of the road and not signalling a turn. Cisneros was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated. He was booked at the Elkhart County jail.
Sheriff’s officers also arrested Cameron Caton Bowers, 22, 55805 C.R. 33, Middlebury, on a charge of driving while intoxicated. Bowers was stopped at Ind. 19 and C.R. 6 at 2:46 a.m. Thursday because his vehicle’s headlights were not on. He reportedly failed a blood-alcohol test and was arrested. Bowers was booked at the Elkhart County jail.
Beverage retrieval leads to crash with buggy
One person was hurt in a collision with a buggy and small truck at 5:18 a.m. Thursday at Ind. 13 south of C.R. 34.
According to a report by the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department, Joshua Haviland, 32, Millersburg, was driving a 1998 GMC Sonoma truck north on Ind. 13 when he reportedly dropped a beverage in the truck and turned on an interior light to retrieve it.
The truck collided with a northbound horse and buggy driven by Josephine Miller, 26, Goshen.
Miller had a scratch on her head and was treated at the scene by Millersburg Fire Department emergency medical technicians.
Haviland was ticketed for driving at an unsafe speed.
