Two arrested on meth charges

Authorities in Noble County arrested two men on drug charges after they obtained a warrant and entered a Wawaka home early Saturday morning.

According to a report by the Noble County Sheriff’s Department, officers were investigating another incident when they detected an odor associated with the manufacturing of methamphetamine.

Officers from Noble County, Ligonier, Albion and the state police surrounded the house and attempted to get the occupants to come out, but they refused. Police obtained a search warrant and the Northeast Indiana SWAT team was called to help local police. The search was executed at 3:15 a.m. and two men were arrested.

They are Roy E. Brickey Jr., 22, Syracuse, and Thomas W. Gibson, 44, Radcliff, Ky. They were arrested on charges of making methamphetamine and placed in the Noble County jail. State police officers worked to clean up the drug lab.

Goshen man arrested on battery charge

A Goshen man was arrested on battery charges when Goshen police were called to his home at 12:08 a.m. Friday.

Police said they arrested Jeff Cook, 43, 1910 Tony Lane, on a charge of domestic violence, a Class A misdemeanor. He was booked at the county jail.

Woman arrested on theft charge

Goshen police reported the arrest of April Jaskulski, 23, 10220 E. 50 South, Knox, on a charge of theft at Walmart Supercenter, 2304 Lincolnway East, at 4:46 p.m. Friday. She was booked at the county jail with bond set at $3,000.

Acohol arrests

Goshen police reported the arrest of Oscar Ramirez-Garcia, 21, 1704 W. Clinton St., after a traffic stop in the 700 block of South Third Street at 1:40 a.m. Saturday. He was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated after refusing to submit to a blood-alcohol test. He was booked at the county jail.

Goshen police arrested Timothy Vescelus, 57, 1521 Navajo St., Elkhart, at Nappanee Street and Mishawaka Road at 11:20 p.m. Saturday, on a charge of driving while intoxicated after he refused to submit to a blood-alcohol test. He was booked into the county jail on the misdemeanor offense.

Caleb Lainez, 22, 7822 N. 625 West, Etna Green, was stopped by Goshen police in the 2700 block of Elkhart Road for failure to use a turn signal. He was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated and booked at the county jail.

Miguel A. Solano, 39, Elkhart, was arrested by officers with the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department at 1 a.m. Friday after a traffic stop. He was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated and booked at the county jail. Bond was set at $1,500.

Sheriff’s officers reported they stopped a vehicle driven by Richard A. Rayner, 40, 9485 W. 750 North, Shipshewana, at Ind. 120 and C.R. 131, Bristol, because of unreasonable speed and unsafe lane movement at 10 p.m. Friday. He was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated and booked at the county jail. Bond was set at $1,500.

Sheriff’s officers reported they arrested Michael E. Bontrager, 21, 11585 C.R. 50, Ligonier, after a traffic stop at C.R. 42, west of C.R. 37 near Millersburg at 3:15 a.m. Saturday. He was charged with driving while intoxicated as a felony and booked into the county jail. Bond was set at $3,000.

A vehicle driven by Kelsey Hobson, 23, 54659 Merry Drive, Elkhart, was stopped by sheriff’s officers for unsafe lane movement at C.R. 17, south of Ind. 120, at 3:43 a.m. Saturday. The driver was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated and booked at the county jail.

A Goshen teen-aged driver was arrested on alcohol charges after a traffic stop at C.R. 38, west of Ind. 15, at Goshen. According to a report by the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department, a vehicle driven by Patrick Steele, 18, 62254 C.R. 17, Goshen, was stopped for a traffic offense and he was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated. He was booked into the county jail. A juvenile girl was arrested on a charge of illegal consumption of alcoholic beverages and released to parents.

According to a report by the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department a vehicle driven by Kareem Amir Coleman, 37, 511 Morningstar, Middlebury, was stopped at Ind. 19 and C.R. 20 at 11 p.m. Sunday after the driver drove left of center and failed to signal a turn. He was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated and booked at the county jail.
