A Granger man died when his van collided with a semitrailer at U.S. 30 and C.R. 800 West at 8:40 a.m. Monday.

According to a report by the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department, Joseph Youngbok Jo, 60, Granger, was driving south on C.R. 800 West and pulled into the path of a westbound semitrailer driven by Lawrence E. Bell, 72, Constantine, Mich.

The truck hit the van’s driver’s door and then the van caught on the trailer and caught fire. Several witnesses, including a federal Alcohol-Tobacco-Firearms agent, fought the flames and pulled Jo from his van, but he was pronounced dead at the scene by the Kosciusko County coroner, according to police.
