GOSHEN —
Witness testimony began this morning in Elkhart Circuit Court in the murder trial of Tyrice J. Halliburton, 30, formerly of Bristol.
Halliburton is accused of killing Sheena Kiska, 23, during a burglary March 18, 2008, in River Shores Apartments on Bristol’s west side.
Former River Shores resident Vicki McClain testified that on the day of the murder, she looked outside her apartment and saw a little girl playing in the rain. McClain thought the girl was playing with a doll. Then the child dropped the doll, and it moved.
According to court testimony, the children were Kiska’s 4-year-old daughter and infant son. Prosecutors allege that by the time McClain saw the children, their mother had already been fatally stabbed.
McClain said she ran downstairs and took the children back to her apartment.
“(The girl) kept saying her mom was hurt,” McClain testified today in court.
Police were called to the scene. Bristol Town Marshal Mike Swallow found Kiska’s body in her apartment.
“...I checked for a pulse, finding none,” Swallow said.
