Woman arrested on meth charge

According to a report by the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department, a Cromwell woman was arrested on drug charges at her home Friday.

Arrested was Regina R. Paluchniak, 48, 966 E. Pizie Parkway. She faces charges of possession of methamphetamine stemming from an incident involving a meth lab investigation in June in the Syracuse area.

She was booked at the county jail and held on $20,000 bond.

Man injured when vehicle rolls

A Goshen driver was hurt in a rollover crash at 8:07 p.m. Thursday at C.R. 28, east of C.R. 127. According to an Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department report, Travis L. Loucks, 28, Goshen, was driving a 2002 Pontiac Montana east on C.R. 28 when the van went off the road and rolled over several times, coming to rest on its roof.

The driver had facial abrasions and arm pain and was taken to IU Health Goshen Hospital for treatment. The van was demolished.

Theft/burglary reports

• According to an Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department report, Steven L. Miller, 54622 C.R. 1, Elkhart, reported Wednesday that someone stole a John Deere riding mower, two pool pumps and extension cords from his property earlier this week.

• Goshen police reported the arrest of Chet S. Olson, 23, 2815 Oakwood Drive, Goshen, at 3:15 p.m. Thursday at Interra Credit Union, 2410 Peddler’s Village Road, on charges of fraud of a financial institution. He was accused of trying to cash a forged check. He was booked at the county jail.

• Goshen police received a report from Rollin W. Ulrich, who said a garage at 105 Dewey Ave. was broken into and items were stolen. A window was also broken in the incident this week.

Traffic arrests

• Goshen  police reported the arrest of Juan Castillo Lara, 20, 17 Brookside Manor, after a traffic stop in the 1300 block of Elkhart Road at 9:09 p.m. Thursday. The driver was arrested on a charge of driving while his license is suspended and he was booked at the county jail. Bond was set at $1,500.

OWI arrests

• According to an Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department report, Ashley M. Evans, 27, 214 Ilene St., Sturgis, Mich., was stopped while driving at Ind. 19 north of C.R. 4 at 2:55 a.m. Thursday. She reportedly failed a blood-alcohol test and was arrested on a charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated. She was booked at the county jail.

• Sheriff’s officers also stopped a vehicle driven by Brandi Scott, 26, 1512 Locust St., Elkhart, at C.R. 10, west of C.R. 5, at 10 p.m. Thursday. The driver reported failed a blood-alcohol test and was arrested on a charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated. She was booked at the county jail.

    The Middlebury Police Department has received complaints from local residents of a scam that is being done in the area. Residents receive a call from an individual who identifies himself from Publishers Clearing House. He advises the resident that they have won a luxury car and $800,000 in cash.

    Goshen police were called to a vacant residence in the 400 block of North Fifth Street, Goshen, at 8:07 p.m. Wednesday. Officers found a 4-year-old and 3-month-old alone inside the residence.
