GOSHEN —
The African Children’s Choir is coming to Goshen.
The group will perform at Maple City Chapel, 2015 Lincolnway East, at 6:30 p.m. Sunday. Donations will be accepted.
The choir is a program run by the organization Music For Life. The group tours to raise money to support educational and humanitarian programs across East and South Africa. Music for Life works in seven African countries: Uganda, Kenya, South Africa, Rwanda, Nigeria, Ghana, and South Sudan.
According to the website africanchildrenschoir.com, the group has performed at the United Nations, Royal Albert Hall, the U.S. White House, Carnegie Hall and the London Palladium. The choir has performed for U.S. presidents, the Queen of England and Nobel Prize laureate Nelson Mandela.
Television appearances by the African Children’s Choir include performances on “Jay Leno,” “Good Morning America,” “Ellen” and “American Idol” alongside artists including Wyclef Jean, Josh Groban, Sandy Patti and Michael W. Smith. The African Children’s Choir and the Music for Life Institute was the subject of a 2009 CNN International documentary on “Inside Africa.”
Since 1984 over one thousand children have toured as members of the African Children’s Choir.

Charlie Daniels Band coming to Shipshewana

Wawasee High School choir to revisit ’50s-’80s
The Wawasee High School Choral Department will present an “American Bandstand” Pops Show Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in the high school auditorium.

Country musician Kris Kristofferson is scheduled to perform at The Lerner Theater, 410 S. Main St., Aug. 10. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the show starts at 7:30. -

Choir concert Sunday at Goshen College
Two Community School of the Arts children’s choirs will be joined by graduating CSA student performers as part of the annual spring Community School of the Arts Showcase Concert on Sunday at 4 p.m. in the Goshen College Music Center’s Sauder Concert Hall.
