ELKHART — Food, music an art show and gala will all be part of the second Taste of the Gardens Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Wellfield Botanic Gardens, 1015 N. Main St., Elkhart.
Food can be sampled from 12 local restaurants, including Kelly Jae’s, Antonio’s Italian Ristorante, Between the Buns, The Chubby Trout, 523 Tap and Grill, The Great Wall, Lucchese’s, Mad Anthony’s Old State Ale House, Matterhorn, McCarthy’s on the Riverwalk, Sports Time Family Pub and Grill and Stirred.
Food tastings will range from appetizers to entrees to desserts.
Beverages will include a variety of wines, specialty beers and soft drinks.
Music will play all day, with Paul Decker kicking off the day at 11, followed by The Whistle Pigs from 12:30 to 3 p.m. and later the Real Deal.
Nearly 35 artists from three counties will have art on display and for sale. Tuck Langland will be exhibiting six sculptures throughout the gardens. All the work in the judged show will be for sale.
Guests are also invited to stroll the garden paths, which include sculptures, ponds and custom-designed brick cottages. When complete, the garden will have 24 individual gardens and will be designed to be a center for community events and a tourist attraction.
A $2 entrance donation for the gardens may be made at the front gate. Tickets for food and drink items may be purchased at the main tent. All funds will go toward the building of the upcoming interactive children’s garden, as well as continued maintenance of the rounds.
