From the Country Music Hall of Fame to the Elkhart County 4-H Fair.
Country superstar Vince Gill is scheduled to perform July 23, the Tuesday of fair week. Gill’s headlining gig was announced during the Wednesday night fair board meeting.
“I think Vince Gill has been on our ‘want’ list for some time now,” fair marketing director Kristy Ambrosen said prior to the meeting. “We’re very excited to have him.”
Also coming to the fair this summer are Florida Georgia Line, performing July 22, and Jason Crabb, in concert July 21. Florida Georgia Line has released the single “Cruise” from its five-song EP “It’z Just What We Do.” Crabb was the longtime lead singer for The Crabb Family and is a 10-time Dove Award winner.
Showtimes for the concerts announced thus far are 8 p.m.
Gill has sold more than 26 million albums, according to information provided by fair staff. He has garnered 18 Country Music Association awards, including Entertainer of the Year in 1993 and 1994. He’s tied with George Strait as winner of the most CMA Male Vocalist awards and is second to Brooks and Dunn for earning the most CMA awards in history.
Gill has won 20 Grammy awards, and in August 2007 was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
According to Gill’s website, he joined Pure Prairie League as lead singer in 1979 and recorded three albums with the group. Elkhart Civic Theatre show headed to national competition
The Elkhart Civic Theatre production of “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” won six awards at the American Association of Community Theatres (AACT) Region III Festival in Hartford, Wis., April 19 to 21.
