BRISTOL —
Neil Simon’s “Brighton Beach Memoirs,” the first show of the Elkhart Civic Theatre’s 2012 season, opens this Friday at the Bristol Opera House.
The play tells the bittersweet, semi-autobiographical story of the playwright as a teenager in 1937, living with his family in crowded, lower middle class Brooklyn. “Memoirs” is directed by John Hutchings, with assistant director Carl Wiesinger and stage manager Jody Thorla. The cast includes veteran ECT performers as well as those new to the stage.
Eugene Jerome, a 15-year-old coming-of-age boy, is played by newcomer Daniel Daher of Elkhart, and his older brother Stanley is played by Brock Butler, also of Elkhart. Melissa Domiano of Bristol plays his mother Kate Jerome, and Dave Dufour, Elkhart, his father Jack. Rounding out the cast is Aunt Blanche, played by Valerie Ong (Elkhart), and the cousins, Laurie, played by Molly Hill (Goshen) and Nora, played by Lydia Coppedge (Mishawaka).
The show opens Friday and runs for two weekends — Friday and Saturday and Jan. 20 and 21 at 8 p.m., with Sunday matinees this weekend and Jan. 22 at 3 p.m.
Tickets
Ticket prices are $13 for adults and $11 for students and senior citizens age 62 and older. To make reservations, call the box office at 574-848-4116 Monday through Friday from 1 to 5:30 p.m.
