The Crafty Bandits group will meet on Dec. 28 from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Teen Space, located on the library’s main floor. The project will involved duct-tape crafts

No sign-up is required. This event is open to young people in grades six through 12.    

Storytime Express

Storytime Express sessions are set for Wednesday and Thursday at 10:30 a.m. “Christmas Stories” are the theme this week.  Fingerplays, songs and a craft activity are also featured.  This program is free, and is recommended for children ages 2 to 5.

Boys & Girls Book Club

Registration is under way for the Boys & Girls Book Club featuring Battle of the Books. Call the Children’s Desk at 537-0241 or come in to register for the third- through fifth-grade Book Club.

Children will be reading books for this spring’s Battle of the Books event. Only 10 girls and 10 boys can sign up for this session. Book Clubs begin the week of Jan. 7. Boys will meet on Tuesdays and girls will meet on Thursdays, both at 4 p.m.

Registration is under way for this club, which will begin meeting Jan. 9 and thereafter every Wednesday at 4 p.m. in the Children’s Story Hour Room. Call 537-0241 for more information.

Ornaments for sale


The public is invited to purchase Christmas ornaments made by the Friends of the Library group. The ornaments, on display at the library, are available $4.50 apiece, or two for $8.

Teen Otaku Club

Teens will meet at the library Tuesday at 6 p.m. for a Christmas-themed meeting. This club is for teens who are interested in Manga and Anime. Call 848-7458 for details.

Soul, Ink

The next meeting of the Soul, Ink writers’ group will be Wednesday at 6 p.m.

Scavenger hunt

The public is invited to participate in the holiday scavenger hunt at the library from Dec. 26 to Jan. 4.

Closed for Christmas

The library will be closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Food for fines


Library patrons are invited to donate non-perishable items through Dec. 29 and get a dollar off their fines for each acceptable item. Items must be unexpired, undented, unused and labeled. Donated items can be dropped off at the front desk.

‘Hunger Games’

Teens are invited to the library Jan. 4 at 3 p.m. to watch “The Hunger Games,” rated PG 13. Refreshments will be provided. Viewers age 13 and younger must be accompanied by an adult.

Children’s programs

Sign-ups for Children’s Winter/Spring Programs start Jan. 14 and programs begin Jan. 21. See the Kids homepage on the library website for program details.

Closed for Christmas

A winner has been chosen for the November drawing. Participants placed a guess about the number of “turkeys” in the library. Chaynie Belcher was the winner and received five harvest-themed books.

Library staffers invite young people to stop by the library after school each day the week before Christmas vacation to make a take-home craft. The schedule of craft activities includes:

• Today — Santa ornament

• Tuesday — “Happy Holiday” suncatchers

• Wednesday — “Merry Christmas” photo frames

• Thursday — puzzle ornament

• Friday — gingerbread house gift bags

    He’s got the hat, the fiddle and the hits. And he’s feeling revitalized.
    In a recent telephone interview with The Goshen News, 74-year-old Charlie Daniels said he is feeling like a new man after his pacemaker procedure earlier this year. He says everything is in sync and he is having a great time on the road.
    “I’m enjoying this tour and we are looking forward to making music in Indiana,” the country-rock icon said.
