NORTH WEBSTER — A feature film is being shot in and around North Webster this week by a Chicago production company owned by Concord High School graduates.
Brent Kado (CHS class of 1992) and his wife, Jessica Hardy (class of 1996) are completing their second film by the FlowFeelFilms. Their first film was shown in May in Elkhart, Hardy said.
Hardy explained the current production is being shot at the Kado family cottage on the shore of Webster Lake as well as outdoors on the lake.
She said their film, titled “Welcome to Gentle Waters,” is about events at a retreat center at the fictional city of North Lake, Ind., and it deals with people with addictions issues.
Hardy pointed out the film is a comedy and shot as a “mockumentary.” The film features Chicago actors and friends of the couple, and is being completed with the help of relatives and volunteers.
Hardy said the couple made their first movie in the Chicago area. After graduation, she went to Chicago to work in improvisational acting at Second City.
“Most of our actors work for Second City or graduated from Second City,” Hardy said.
The filming will continue through Sunday. The movie may be completed in early 2010, she said.
She said Kado recently received an advanced degree at DePaul University and this fall will continue working on his doctorate at Purdue University.
