NAPPANEE —
The musical “Church Basement Ladies” is slated to open The Round Barn Theatre season Wednesday.
“Church Basement Ladies” is based on the humorous novel “Growing Up Lutheran” by Janet Letnes Martin and Suzann Nelson with a book by Jim Stowell and Jessica Zuehlke and music and lyrics by Drew Jansen.
The cast includes Round Barn Theatre alumni Mathew C. Scott and Em Laudeman, with newcomers Kelsey Celek, Nicole Horton, and Melody Goodell rounding out the cast.
“Church Basement Ladies” is being directed by David Craven, who previously directed “Barefoot in the Park,” “The Foreigner,” “The Old Rugged Cross” and two productions of “Plain and Fancy,” including last season’s 25th anniversary production. Travis Smith returns for a second season as The Round Barn Theatre’s musical director.
Following “Church Basement Ladies” and running in repertory with “Plain and Fancy” will be “State Fair,” “Hank Williams: Lost Highway,” “Sisters of Swing: The Story of the Andrews Sisters,” “Driving Miss Daisy” and for the holidays, “Miracle on 34th Street.” “Church Basement Ladies” opens on Wednesday and continues through May 13 with 2 p.m. matinees and 8 p.m. evening performances. A complete show schedule, ticket availability, and reservations can be found by calling the Box Office at (800) 800-4942 ext. 2 or online at AmishAcres.com.
