The fall one-act plays at Goshen College are set for Friday through Sunday. As with other GC Theater Department productions this season, the one-acts will have the theme of “Think For Yourself.”
The one-acts will be performed in Umble Center Friday at 8 p.m., Saturday at 4 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. American Sign Language interpretation will be available on Sunday.
The three featured plays are:
• “Trifles,” written by Susan Glaspell and directed by Goshen College senior Sarah Noah (Bay City, Mich.). This play from the early 1900s depicts a farmhouse murder investigation based on a true story. Glaspell’s play exposes the oversight of the male investigators who believe that the mystery couldn’t possibly be solved in the “trifles” of the kitchen.
The cast includes freshman Justin Yoder (Perkasie, Pa.), senior Kristina Mast (Corvallis, Ore.), freshman Clare Maxwell (Boxborough, Mass.), junior Josh Hofer (Dolton, S.D.) and freshman Jeff Moore (Ashland, Ohio).
• “The Still Alarm,” written by George S. Kaufman and directed by Goshen College junior Laura Nimigan (Napanee, Ontario, Canada). This play is about a hotel being on fire, but the guests in this British-style comedy are anything but alarmed.
The cast includes sophomore Jacob Landis-Eigsti (Lakewood, Colo.), freshman Justin Yoder (Perkasie, Pa.), junior Lucas Nafziger (Goshen), freshman Nate Vader (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) and junior Josh Hofer (Dolton, S.D.).
• “Achilles’ Heel,” written and directed by Goshen College junior Patrick Ressler (Lititz, Pa.). This musical theater scene brings together two high school seniors who have very different perspectives on their first childhood “romantic” encounter as second-graders. The cast includes junior Adriel Santiago (Souderton, Pa.) and senior Allison Yoder (Goshen).
The combined running time for the performance as a whole is about one hour, with no intermission. Tickets cost $3 each and can be purchased by calling the Goshen College Welcome Center in advance at 535-7566. There will also be tickets available at the door for each performance, with sales beginning 45 minutes prior to curtain.
