Piano recital March 1 at IUSB

SOUTH BEND — Ernestine M. Raclin School of the Arts piano faculty member Ketevan Badridze will perform a solo recital at 7:30 p.m. March 1. She will perform Haydn’s “Piano Sonata in A Flat Major,” Liszt’s “Schubert Song Transcriptions” and Schumann’s “Kreisleriana” in the Campus Auditorium of Northside Hall on the campus of IU South Bend.

Tickets for Badridze’s solo recital are available for $7 to $12, with students and children admitted free. For more information or tickets, visit the website arts.iusb.edu or call the box office at 574-520-4203.

Badridze, born in Tbilisi, the Republic of Georgia, began piano studies at the Georgian Special Music School. She continued her studies at the Tbilisi State Conservatory and in 1993 upon completion of her post-graduate degree she was appointed to the piano faculty. Badridze has been a prize winner of numerous international piano competitions, including Newport International Piano Competition, United Kingdom; Georgian Republic Piano Competition; The World International Piano Competition — Cincinnati, Ohio; New Orleans International Piano Competition — Louisiana; and the Bartok-Kabalevsky-Prokofiev International Piano Competition — Radford, Virginia.

Since her first performance on stage with orchestra at the age of 12, Badridze has appeared with the Tbilisi Symphony and Chamber Orchestra, the Erevan Philharmonic Orchestra, and BBC Welsh Symphony Orchestra. She is a frequent performer of solo and chamber music in Georgia, France, Belgium, Austria, Italy and Germany. Her recordings can be found on Amazon.com and Mazur Media worldwide.

In 2000 she moved to the United States and joined the Toradze Piano Studio, and has appeared with the studio at numerous music venues both in Europe and the United States.
