Anne McCue to perform at Ignition Garage

GOSHEN — Singer-songwriter/guitarist Anne McCue will close out the inaugural concert season at Ignition Garage, 120 E. Washington St., Goshen, Saturday.

McCue describes her music, as “a bit dirty, a bit rockin’, a bit swampy and a bit bluesy, with a touch of mysteriousness to it.” She was voted the Roots Music Association’s Folk Artist of the Year in 2008, performed in a Jimi Hendrix tribute at the 2007 International Guitar Festival and was included in the “Four Decades of Folk Rock” box set. She has played in concert halls all over the world, including the Sydney Opera House.

Heart’s Nancy Wilson described her as “my Aussie clone.” Americana icon Lucinda Williams said of McCue: “Initially, her stunning voice hooked me in. Then I got inside the songs. The first chance I got, I went to see her perform ... I was floored! The combination of her tomboyish beauty mixed with the precision and assertiveness with which she approached the guitar, her surrounding languid and earthy vocals created an intoxicating blend.”

McCue recently released her first DVD, “Live in Nashville” and is in the studio working on her eighth solo album. She returns to Goshen after performing at First Fridays in June. Opening the show at 7:30 p.m. is Nashville singer-songwriter Bonnie Bishop. Her resume includes co-writing the song “Not ’Cause I Wanted To,” recorded by Bonnie Raitt for Raitt’s new “Slipstream” album.

Tickets are $15 advance-sale, or $18 the day of the show. Tickets can be purchased at Better World Books, 118 E. Washington, or by calling 574-534-1984. They can also be bought online at www.ignitionmusic.net, where fans can also sign up for membership at the Goshen music venue.

The 2012 concert schedule at Ignition included 17 shows, with more to come in 2013.
