GOSHEN —
A group of Elkhart area performers will provide a variety of entertainment in a concert to benefit Riley Children’s Hospital, Indianapolis, at the Goshen Theater today.
Alexander Bicknell, head of Kanine Music Group, Elkhart, is organizing the event after booking the Goshen Theater for today.
He said the event will feature 28 people, including local recording artists and dancers. Besides the musical groups, there will be at least two dancers and 10 members of the Elkhart Central High School cheer squad.
“We are trying to make it a very exciting show — not just like any other show,” Bicknell said.
The event is open and appropriate for all ages, he said. The acts will feature pop, hip-hop, rock, rap, freestyle and alternative music, Bicknell said. There will be no profanity.
Doors will open at 5:30 p.m., the event starts at 6 and is expected to last two hours. He points out the theater seats 750 people.
Tickets are $10 for general admission and $5 for those 12 and under. He said those wanting to reserve one of the 18 seats in the first two rows will be asked to pay $20. There will also be raffles, he said, including vinyl records, CDs and chocolate. The grand prize will be a song written by Bicknell about the winner and his interests and family. All profits will be given to Riley, he stressed.
Tickets are available from participants or through the Goshen Theater website. That is GoshenTheater.com, going to the events page and looking at May 26.
Bicknell says his motive is to help the hospital where so many of his friends have been treated. He said he has read and heard many success stories about the medical care at Riley. He earlier helped organize a dance marathon at Elkhart Central High School that benefitted the hospital.
He added that he is also seeking sponsors or donations of prizes from local businesses.
“Any amount of anything can help,” he said.
He is available at contact.kanine@yahoo.com.
