A 'Fountain' full of music

Free concerts begin June 15 in front of Morris Performing Arts Center.

SOUTH BEND — The “Fridays by the Fountain 2012” concert series is set to begin June 15 in South Bend.  

This will be the 12th year the free concerts have been held and are open to the public. Rock, Irish, blues, country and children’s bands, along with the Ernestine M. Raclin School of the Arts students from Indiana University — South Bend, will take “the stage” in the Jon R. Hunt Plaza in front of the Morris Performing Arts Center. Shows are set during lunchtime from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. on seven Fridays in June, July and August.  

Scheduled dates include:

• June 15 — Kennedy’s Kitchen (Irish)

• June 29 — Chantilly Lace (oldies)

• July 13 — Everyday People (country)

• July 27 — Top Secret (classic rock)

• Aug.  10 — Junior and the Igniters (blues)

• Aug. 24 — Jetta and the Jellybeans  (children)

• Aug. 31 — Ernestine M. Raclin School of the Arts  (variety)

Lunch will be available to purchase from Palais at Your Doorstep, Papa John’s and Studebaker Catering & Events.  Tables will be set up around the plaza for patrons to enjoy the concert. Attendees are also invited to bring a sack lunch, a chair or blanket and relax on the lawn.
