Daryck Barnett was the man with the answers Thursday.
That afternoon, Barnett was stationed in the information booth just inside the Gate 2 entry to the Elkhart County 4-H Fair. The job involves fielding fair-related questions from fairgoers.
The most common? “‘Where’s the ATM?’” Barnett said. “Next would be, ‘Where are the restrooms?’”
“After that, I don’t think I’ve had the same question twice,” he added. “It’s hard to believe that they still come up with questions to try to stump you.”
Barnett has been on the Fair Board around 15 years. He works with the golf outing committee. The event, a fund-raiser benefiting 4-H clubs, normally takes place at Maplecrest Country Club in June.
“This year, we had to postpone because of economic conditions,” Barnett said, later adding, “Even though companies were not willing to participate in the golf outing this year, we did receive donations from them totaling more than $700 that still went to the 4-H fair clubs.”
Barnett, an Elkhart resident, is retired from KeyBank.
