The Romney-Ryan team reminds me a lot of the NASCAR races. For months now we have watched them go ’round and ’round without a specific destination in sight. As with the NASCAR races, the vehicles, the coveralls and the helmets of the Romney-Ryan team are richly emblazoned with the logos of the corporations, special-interest groups and a multitude of shadowy organizations with noble sounding names, all of which fully expect to buy themselves a significant share of influence in a future government.
If you believe that the amount of hot air “exhausted,” along with the roar of their extreme supporters, signals progress for all of us, think again. What used to be one nation, indivisible, with a government of the people, by the people and for the people, may well become a nation divided along the lines of the “have-lots” and the “have-nots,” the latter being you and me. And believe you me, our number will be far greater than 47 percent if the Romney-Ryan team wins this race.
